Always rent our bikes from DVO (10% disount if done online) and we usually end up picking up some casual clothes when we drop the bikes off ;) They offer locks, baskets and baby carriers for the bikes among other things to.
Daughter age 12 and friend age 7 took lessons and while both were nervous at first. But after there 2 hour lesson, I found that I was sitting on the beach at 7 am the next morning watching them ride the wake and smaller waves with success. They had a great time and the instructors were top notch.
